A Helping Service For You
Many people who are elderly, ill or handicapped wish to remain living in their own homes, but need some help to do so.
Our caregiving programs are staffed by empathic, competent caregivers who offer assistance in your own home when you are unable to care for your family or yourself because of illness, aging or emergencies.
The helping process is designed to offer the participants practical assistance that enhances their quality of life.
Caregiving offers the opportunity for dignified, independent living in a supportive setting.

Caregiving Programs
Our caregivers provide help in times of crisis due to illness,
hospitalization, death or other emergencies.
Our palliative care program provides support to individuals and families coping with
a terminally ill person at home.
Our caregivers help the ill with their personal care routines including bathing,
dressing, shaving and hair care.
They also assist elderly people who live on their own and need help with household chores such as cooking, dusting, vacuuming, laundry and garbage removal.
Our caregivers reach out to minority families by serving people from many cultural
backgrounds. We provide services in more than twenty-five languages.
The caregivers in our respite program provide relief for those who are caring for
a handicapped child, palliative care client or a physically dependent adult at home.
Calgary Family Services is the only agency in Alberta to be accredited by Family Services
Canada in both counselling and caregiving.

Referrals/Fees
Referrals are accepted from anyone - family,
friends, or yourself. The Society also accepts referrals from
public agencies such as the Calgary
Health Region (CHR).
The Society's fee structure, which is based on a sliding scale, is used for our
clients.
The City of Calgary (Family & Community
Support Services) and the United Way of Calgary and Area subsidize the
Society's caregiving program. Their generous subsidies allow us to charge fees based on the client's ability to pay.
