MAKING ANGER WORK FOR YOU

A
10 SESSION group for men and women who are struggling with the ways in which they express their anger. This is a group for clients who:

Say that they always feel mad
Feel like they hold in their anger and then blow up
Feel that others are always trying to upset them
Feel less happy than they used to be
Feel stressed all of the time.

Workshop participants will learn new ways to cope with their stressors and express their anger, with a goal of creating healthier relationships at work and with their families.

Please note: this group is not appropriate for clients who have been mandated through the court system.

There must be at least 10 participants in order for this group to run,

NURTURING YOURSELF

A one day seminar (held on Saturdays) for women facilitated by Dr. Irene Estay at Calgary Family Service's Downtown Location.


This is offered through a partnership between Calgary Family Services, and Openings.

Seminars are open to women of all ages with no cost to the participant. Breakfast and a light lunch will be provided. All learning materials will be supplied.

Older adults are often challenged by life changes such as health concerns, relationship changes, social isolation, loss and grief, retirement and other life transitions.  In a small group setting promoting safety and support, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about change and resilience, reflect upon personal experience and their life story.

Calgary Family Services Widowed Support Group

Mission
We are a group of widowed people who help each other adapt to the loss of a spouse. We provide a safe, understanding social atmosphere, and a friendly place to meet people who have had similar experiences and have found ways to cope with the difficulties and are willing to share. Social events are the focus that help us build a new life, form new friendships and learn new skills.

Calming Chaos At Camp Kiwanis
Single Parent Family Camp Weekend

For single parent families with kids aged 5-14 years old.
Program is run at Kamp Kiwanis - 15 minutes west of Calgary. Transportation provided from the

Playful Approaches to Parenting - Turn Power Struggles into Power Plays!

This seminar will provide a forum for the discussion of parent-child play, as it influences childhood brain development and attachment formation. As well, participants will learn a number of playful techniques for avoiding power struggles and strengthening the parent-child relationship.

The Magic of Connecting Children and Families and Playful Approaches to Parenting: A Full-Day Workshop for Adoptive and Foster Parents

This full day workshop is for individuals in the process of adopting. Participants will discuss issues of attachment as it relates to adoption. Topics include; the development of attachment during early childhood, the amazing human brain and its role in attachment, the behavioural and emotional indicators of attachment related vulnerabilities, and mending and managing the effects of early childhood disruption. This workshop will also provide a forum for the discussion of parent-child play, as it influences childhood brain development and attachment formation. As well, participants will learn a number of playful techniques for avoiding power struggles and strengthening the parent-child relationship.

This seminar will serve as a forum for parents to share 'first hand' their experiences of adopting.  Come and ask questions and connect with other parents.  Discussion topics include what to do about 'challenging' behaviours at home, school and with siblings; emotional tender spots; expression of grief and anger; and other hot topics.
